I'll Take Manhattan, Honey

A new twist on a classic Manhattan, this cocktail is the brainchild of Matt Stiles at 3 Doors Down Cafe in Portland. We Krupnify the Manhattan by replacing the sweet vermouth found in most recipes with Krupnik. Matt’s production version requires infusion equipment that you may not have at home, so we have simplified the recipe.


2 oz. of your favorite Bourbon
1/2 oz. JVR Spirits Krupnik
4 dashes Angostura bitters
4 dashes Aphrodite bitters
Slice or wedge of lemon peel


Stir the liquor and bitters in a mixing glass with ice for 30 seconds. Strain into a martini glass. Garnish with burnt lemon by squeezing the lemon peel over the glass and ignite the lemon oil with a match or lighter as it drops into the glass. Drop the remaining lemon peel in the glass and serve.
